Office 2007 like Ribbon UI

It'd be nice to have a Ribbon UI ala Office 2007 that is part or works with the JIDE action framework.

There's already an open source one for Java, but it really doesn't match the desired look and feel (haven't checked the API).

to add a request for a Ribbon UI. I think this would help out tremendously as swing based apps run along side native MS apps that have this feature.

Absolutely. I vote for it too. We are actively working on it. It's just hard for us to give a date at the moment.

I'm on a project currently using the Flamingo JRibbon. We have been awaiting a commercial ribbon implementation.

any updates? I'm sure if you were to poll users for new component features this would top the list. It would help tremendously for those of us who are developing Swing apps competing against other frameworks on the .Net/WPF side ala infragistics.

I woudl say we are about half done with the ribbon component. Right now we are stuck at the application menu part which we haven't figured out how to do it. We will try our best to get it out of the door.

I strongly support this enhancement, here are my comments:
. Please think about modern LnF for the Ribbon (support synthetica...)
. Did you check the Microsoft patent on the Ribbon component ? (I've been heard there's one...)
. As a customer, should it be possible to have access to a beta version, some screenshots or features list supported?

No, actually we decided to stop working on it since Kirill has an open source version. Unless we receive some sponsorship from our customers, we will not work on it anymore.

I've also been looking at flamingo but had been putting off using it untill I hade heard from you as , as a company, we are trying to use as many products as possible from a single supplier.

How about at 2010 style Ribbon that Kirill wrote that he wouldn't do?
