A lot of times people get horizontal and vertical confused, and it would be nice to have a one step process to switch between orientation as opposed to now, where it is at least two steps.
IntelliJ Idea has this feature.

You are referring to "change tab group orientation", right? We will add it.

Just so you know, in the 1.8.0 beta which is available to download, we added this menu item. We also added "close all but this" just like IntelliJ.
